Is Your Body Really Ready for Labour?
You’ll often hear people say to pregnant women, “Your body will just know what to do.” I say it myself to the woman I work with and support.
I do firmly believe in that, I really do. Our bodies are incredible. They are designed for birth. But the truth is, modern life doesn’t always make it easy for that natural, instinctive process to just unfold on its own.
I have this conversation time and time again with mums-to-be, especially in those final weeks of pregnancy. They’re waiting for labour to start naturally, but by that point, their nervous system is frazzled, their energy is low, and they feel absolutely done. Sound familiar?
What It Really Means to Be Ready for Labour
Yes, your body is built to give birth. But like any big physical process, it needs the right environment to work well. Think of it like a marathon: you wouldn’t turn up without any prep, running on three hours’ sleep, stressed to the max, living off snacks and takeaways and then expect to feel strong, steady and ready to perform. Right?
And in those final weeks, this is what life often looks like for so many of us:
- Still working or juggling lots of responsibilities.
- Finding it hard to slow down, even when we want to.
- Grabbing meals on the go, because that’s what fits right now.
- Holding on to tension, physically and emotionally, without even noticing.
- Putting others first and quietly powering through (even when support is offered).
That’s exactly why I’m so passionate about supporting your whole self, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too, as you prepare for birth.
So, What Does Real Labour Preparation Look Like?
Your birth preferences and birth bag are important, and of course I include them in every course.
But we also go deeper, supporting you as a whole, so you feel calm, confident and truly prepared for birth from every angle.
What really matters is you, how you’re feeling, how your body’s coping, how supported you are.
Here’s what I bring into my work with expectant mums:
- Hypnobirthing techniques – To calm your nervous system, help you feel more confident, and work with your body during pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond.
- Pregnancy relaxation sessions – A chance to switch off and rest, recharge and truly connect with your baby.
- Mindset & emotional prep – Gently helping you process any fears, worries or mental blocks around birth.
- Practical tools & knowledge – From the stages of labour, foetal positioning and birth environment prep, to partner tips and decision-making confidence.
When your body feels nourished, safe and supported, it’s far more likely to do what it knows how to do.
It’s Not Just About Playing the Waiting Game
If you’ve found yourself googling “how to go into labour naturally” for the fourth time this week, please know you’re not alone.
But let’s take the pressure off.
Let’s give your body and mind the support they actually need.
Let’s build a mindset plan that actually feels good and gets you excited for birth.
Because preparing for labour doesn’t have to feel overwhelming, it can feel calming, empowering, and exciting.
If you’re looking for a more connected, holistic and down-to-earth approach, I’d love to support you.
You’re so welcome to join one of my upcoming hypnobirthing courses, or drop me a message about private 1:1 sessions or a My Bump and Chill Pregnancy Relaxation Course.
Wherever you’re at in your pregnancy, it’s never too early, or too late, to feel supported
